Re: Crate Palomino V16 Vs Fender Blues Junior

I personally never liked the Crate one, I found that it sounded too thin and trebly to my ears and the pre-amp distortion was just really buzzy, even when the amp was pushed a lot. I like the Blue Junior much better, I think it just sounds better for clean AND distorted. I was in the market for a small tube combo a while ago and I wound up spending a tad extra and getting a Gibson GA5, one volume knob, which I felt blew the other two away (I paid about $440 for my Gibson GA5, when they are normally about $650).

i prefer the blues jr. they are noticably different for being similar amps, the crate has more gain and less mids. try them both and see which you like better. either way my suggestion is to find a used one and put the money you saved into a new speaker (first) and better tubes (second).

i use a greenback in my blues jr and i think it sounds great

Re: Crate Palomino V16 Vs Fender Blues Junior

I am more into clean sounds rather than gainy, overdrived tones, so the fender may be the best pick for me here. Thank you guys for your comments.

Re: Crate Palomino V16 Vs Fender Blues Junior

the blues jr was useless to me! (check user name) I tried several overdrive/distortion boxes and I couldnt find a tone I was satisfied with!

go whit the blues junior.. but try the traynor yvc-20.. same price range but whit better features
