Crate VS Laney Help!!!!

I am looking at getting a cheap Class A El84 vox based amp.
Which one is better.
Is it worth getting 212 rather then 112?
mOST IMPORTANT is the clean channell but i would like a good dirty one and reverb. Which one can hold the VOX percussive when pushed sound better?

They're REALLY cheaply made, bro. Ask B Bent. I think he had one for like 4 hours or something. It blew up. Lots 'o' plastic parts.

I own the V32. It's a good amp if that's your style (I'm returning it because I'm not much of a Vox guy, I've found). Both of these amps have that Vox thing going on, but I have a feeling the Laney may be made better, so I vote that.

Actually both are well made. I have owned both. The Laney is very compressed sounding, but that can work well with Tele and Ricks. The V30 or V32 is not as compressed. The Laney can be had in a 1X12, 2X10 or 2X12 while the V30/32 only comes as a 1X12.

Cleans the Laney has a bit more before it breaks up, whereas the Crate has a better OD tone and cuts better clean IMO. Of course selecting good tubes, I had Bob at Euro get me a set of EL84s that were not as compressed and had more of the Vox AC30 throaty tone.

I would go with the Crate with a Tone Tubby ceramic speaker!!!

Compressed as in VOX AC30 compression or even more then that (I am really a RIC kinda guy (rythmn and arrpegios) but i also like Les Pauls or strats for lead.
I have a boss SD-1 if gain is the only thing the laney lacks compared to the crate.

what kinda sound were u trying to get out of the V32 cos i find voxs r good for most things (with an OD pedal) except maybe surf and modern metal (because they r not aggresive enough) or super sterile 80's sounds (y would u want a tube amp to sound like that). Wat amp r u gonna replace it with??

After a while, I just realized that I like Fender and Marshall style stuff better then Vox styles. Just personal taste. It's not that it couldn't do what I wanted it to do, just not the WAY I wanted it to, know what I mean?

i acn vouce for the laney being top notch in the tone department. stock its for a good rockin tone cranked, less gain its nice for a raunchy blues tone, but with a good pedal it ripps heads off!

I love the tones that my RIC and tele put out through my peavey classic...


The RIC is very fullbodied and rich (Almost acoustic clarity.), while the tele is very well... Tele-ish!


I don't like trying to describe amps' tones to people, I hear things differently than other people do.
