Creamiest, most buttery, smoothest amp

I'm sick and tired of harsh sounding and buzzy amps.

What amps deliver the most smooth, creamy, buttery sound ever?

Tube amps only!! :)

Re: Creamiest, most buttery, smoothest amp

AC30 has got to be near the top of the list. My Carlsbro TR60 is among the silkiest smoothest amps I have ever played.

Some sort of Class A or Cathode Biased amp. Fender 5E3 tweed Deluxe, Vox AC 30, etc. Lew

Re: Creamiest, most buttery, smoothest amp

Fender tweed amps, especially the cathode biased ones

Fender Twin. I put on the 1/4 switch, kicked the gain up, and there was no buzzing at all. Even on the clean channel! None!

Re: Creamiest, most buttery, smoothest amp

blonde fenders do kick some serious arse for the smooth tones. It's good to have a high headroom speaker though; butteriness is many times synonymous with minimum speaker fart/distortion. Something ala JBL or EV with alnico magnets like a d130f really work nicely. KT66's also add to this factor in my book. An amp with a vox or fender tone stack, with 6l6 or kt66's top it in my book (or el84's for a vox).

Since you always mention metal bands, I'm assuming you want all those qualities in an amp that's capable of higher gain settings.

I hate recommending amps I haven't yet heard, but if I were you, I'd look at the new Traynor EL-34 amp in blue tolex. Ask SoCalSteve for details.

Plus, I'd imagine that Traynor has worldwide distribution, so the amp is easier for you to aquire, where you live.

Okay, don't laugh....Univox U45-B. Only about 10 watts but sounds huge. I know a lot of people say "just like a plexi" but if a tech goes over it and it's up to snuff, fuggedaboudit! Getting good stuff out of my Crate Blue Voodoo also with Seth Lovers, Antiquities and a cab loaded with the V30/G12H30 mix.

Hope this helps.
