Creative types with a good eye for design- I need your help.

I have zero creative juices on my own with this sort of stuff and would love some input from you guys. Some of you may or may not know the deal with the amp pictured below, but ultimately it is a clone of an old Magnatone Tonemaster amp that's housed in a surplus ammo canister.

I had a 1x12 cabinet built for it with the intentions of doing something cool to the cab so that it would match the ammo can/ military vibe of the amp. Basically, it is an unfinished, finger-jointed pine cab. What would you guys do if it were yours?

Sorry what? Slightly distracted by the walnut flooring.

This cab style

Dark Green tolex that's as close to olive green as possible.

Black Grill Cloth

Either that, or seal the wood and spray a similar shade of green on the wood and add some similar ammo stencilling on the side. Just add the black grill cloth.

Just my .02

^ what he said.

Was this question already asked a few months ago, or am I thinking of something else?

I would just go get some olive drab spray paint and go to town. Use olive drab painted chicken wire for a grille.

...but what I would really like to do if I were you would be to make a cab out of an old Civil Defense drum. I used to have a few of these in my back yard when I was a kid, and they are really cool.

Or maybe you could find an old wooden footlocker and hack that up to make a cab.

Military surplus olive drab filing cabinets are cool too.

i like the idea of finding another suitable military surplus thing to hold the speaker

but um green paint is cool too

Re: Creative types with a good eye for design- I need your help.

I agree in needs OD paint, but it's really too nice a cabinet for that treatment.

Regardless, it needs to be stencilled "DETACHMENT 2702" after it's painted.

I think the OD green is the way to go as well. That has been my thought all along, but you never know when polling the crowd what sort of amazing idea may arise that you have't thought of.

Camo net as grill cloth? Some white stenciled text on olive green?

Re: Creative types with a good eye for design- I need your help.

Rattlecan it olive green, distress it, put some brass metal corners on it, and stencil some stuff on the side, like "WARNING: EAR PROTECTION REQUIRED" or something like that.

I would go with a dark green wood stain on the cab,

...and some wheat/tan & black woven grill cloth for the cab and the front of the amp.

This will give it a military jungle warfare look which would be REALLY cool.

I´m thinking rattlecan OD or Olive tolex, maybe misted with black or brown in spots, aged brass corners, a black Grillcloth with a Sherman Star on it (as in the tank), and yellow Mil-Stencil lettering on the sides. "Caution: Stand Clear of Blast Wave" or something along those lines.

Or go to the surplus store and get an olive sheet of heavy duty canvas, and cover it like you'd cover a tweed amp.

Then get a yard of camo material from a fabric store or cut up a camo T Shirt for the grillcloth. If you can find green or tan digital camo, that would look even cooler.

^^ Although theres definitely something to be said for the idea of camo netting over a black soundboard instead of grillcloth... in which case the sherman star goes on the back. Or an olive soundboard and black speaker grille under the netting...

Great minds think alike :beerchug:

Which reminds me, I seem to have misplaced mine, at least I feel that way when I read OT. Have you seen it anywhere? :laugh2:

Make it look like a tank.
