Critique on this recording?

Hello.

I think someone else here is doing periodical recordings of music and i decided to do something similar.
This is the first one. I would love to read your opinions on it, more on the recording/mixing/etc than the music.

This one I just modified the volumes of the tracks and did nothing else, because i know almost nothing of what to do.

Not really sure where to start because I don't know what kind of feedback you are looking for. From a performance perspective, I would say I am not sure if the bass is programmed (sounds like it) or is a live player, but it is way out of time and skews the entire thing.

As you say yourself you know 'almost nothing of what to do', I will tell you the first rule of recording: first you need to have a solid performance. That means good musicians playing well executed parts with an end result in mind in terms of overall tone. If you are a solo artist doing it all yourself, that means, at the very least, TRYING to think like someone else and then trying to write complementary parts that support the core melodic or rhythmic idea. This comes under the subject of 'writing' or 'song craft'.

Believe it or not if you do your best to carefully capture that, your job will be 99.9999% done as far as being a recording engineer. There really are no secrets.

'Mixing' ... that's a whole other discussion.

Hey. Thanks for your imput! Everything is good.

I played the 'bass' using a fishman tripleplay.
There is a lot for me to learn abut recording and hopefully just trying and trying will let me learn.
