anyone compare the MI Crunch Box and Tonebone Hot British pedals? going by the descriptions on both websites, I can't tell whether either one is going for the Plexi or JCM800 sound?

Thanks

Re: Crunch Box vs Hot British?

I owned a Crunch Box and I believe the builder, Michael Ibrahim stated on The Gear Page that he was going for a souped up Plexi tone. It's a great pedal that's nice and tight for palm mutes and the notes stay articulate.

I had a TB Classic and for me, sometimes there are too many knobs to tweak and find myself fiddling with the knobs and switches too much.

Re: Crunch Box vs Hot British?

I`ve been really interested in trying out the Crunchbox but everybody that carries them is out of stock. The Tonebone is great for a heavy Marshall tone with lots of gain on tap and as of right now it`s all I use for my distortion tones. John Spina posted awhile back about swapping the 12AX7 tube in the Tonebone(I`ve seen come with JJs and Rubys)with an old RCA 12AX7 longplate tube and that made a huge difference in tone. Gone was all the buzzy distortion it had stock and in it`s place fat, thick yet crystal clear distortion.
