Curly! I got a Strat like yours...

How do you like it? Don't know if I'll keep it or not but these are usually great guitars. I have a candy apple red one just like it. I was looking for another MIJ Fender Strat to put the Ant Texas Hots back in...these mid 80's Japanese Fenders can still be had for under $400 if you keep your eyes open.

LOL! It's Curly's fault...I actually like White Strats best.
That one just looked so clean and for $375 it was a steal. Pop some Duncan Texas Hots in there and it'll sound like a $1500 guitar I'll bet.

really, I don't know enough about the MIJ's ... I know at one time, maybe early 80's, they were probably better than the US ones for sure. I think when Fender started making good strats again, say in the early 80's, they probably took a hard look at the MIJ stuff, because those guys were doing a better job ...

I know that some prefer vintage style hardware, too, like that one - you know that Eric Clapton does, since that's what he spec'ed for his signature model
except that doesn't have the old style tuners

cosmetically, I don't think it needs a thing - and that's Lake Placid Blue, for sure

I think Ants are too high brow for that ax - it really wants a regular ol' APS/ SSL/ SSL-3 setup

Lew, very nice score! I lobe that color with the maple fretboard and white pickguard. It's got a very very clean look. I'll bet it'll be an even nicer piece when you install those Ant Texas Hots.

Thanks Butch! I'm a big fan of those 80's Japanese Fenders. I think they're as nice or nicer than most USA Strats.

Curly, I expect the neck to have a more rounded 60's shape than a Boatneck or V 50's shape. But I've never played a MIJ Strat that didn't play great...just takes a little set up.

The Japanese 80's Fender Strats I've owned, whether Squire or Fender is on the peghead, have all been about the same in terms of quality.

All they need is new pickups...the stock ones usually have ceramic magnets glued to the bottem of the bobbin. Not such great pickups...but everything else is always first rate.

Those Gotoh tuners are excellant, IMO, as is the bridge and tremolo block.

Very nice-SHould be a good one to turn around after some new pups if you don't like it.

I can't bring myself to separate with my stuff, so I'd have a hard time letting it go.

She's very cool with it...We're on the 4th floor and the computer is on the first floor in what they call "The executive room"...I check in with all of my buds and then she checks her e mail and such...I'm on just quick enough to keep an eye on my buddies and then return back to vacation mode! She's cool and knows how much of a large role you all and this forum play in my life! I Love all of you! :wink:
