Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

I had another 570 Body that I was contemplating painting Desert Sun Yellow but the Flame Maple Blueburst is pretty clean and completely. If anything I'd paint the headstock but prob just leave it DSY.

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

looks awesome!! love the swoosh headstock RGs!! every Ibanez should have them

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

Thanks! I've always like the older RG 5 and 7 Series. Had a few through the years. Found the Neck then body, ran across the 520 dirt cheap and bought it to use as a donor for hardware but it was too nice to tear apart so I'll swap in an Air Norton F/Tone Zone F, upgrade pots and add a Big Brass Block and it'll be completely BADA$$!!!

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

I really like that Blueburst 570, and im with you on just leaving well enough alone concerning the factory finishes.
Kinda makes you wonder why that DSY neck was seperated from its body, and likewise for the 570 neck, which probably had a matching headstock(??)

At the moment I have a Vintage White Charvel body with a Jackson DR3 neck thats painted SeaFoamGreen but has a white Kramer logo. Ill probably leave it be for now, because with my luck Ill sand one of them down, then find something that wouldve matched either.
...looks dont make them go, as youre aware...

A big plus 1 to that! A gorgeous looking guitar! Being a pre 2002 Ibanez RG addict, I would not mind having the RG520 in my collection either!;) What pickups are you planning to put in the RG570 muttznmongrels? I can see there's a single coil sized Duncan in the middle now, which one is that and will it stay? Thanks in advance for your reply!

Thanks! DSY Neck was picked up from an individual eBay seller and the 570 Body was parted out by an eBay seller whose business is parting guitars. 570 neck was rosewood w/a black headstock. I just ran across the neck and figured I could build something with it.

Let's see that Charvel/Jackson! I love Mutt Builds.

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

Super rad! Maybe get yellow pickups to tie the two together? Both should turn out to be awesome guitars! :headbang:

Thanks! Think the 520 will be getting a Set of Blue F-Spaced Air Norton/Tone Zone Humbuckers that are to arrive today - which I had actually purchased for the 570, but I've just about convinced myself to get a set of Yellow Dimarzios for the Blue 570. Duncan Lil '59 Bridge will be in the middle on the 570.

Or paint a big ol' happy face on the body in matching yellow! (I'm only half kidding...it would be an attention getter!)

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

I saw a set of Yellow/Blue zebra pickups online a while ago that would also look t!ts on that guitar! I do like the double Yellow that you have picked out though.
Should be an awesome playing guitar when youre done with it!
One time I had a body/neck project and I too bought a whole guitar for parts, but ended up tearing it down and rebuilding it with different pickups and ended up just buying parts for my original project and ended up with two guitars that I didnt really need, as opposed to one.
Funny how that stuff happens sometimes. You go to take the easy route....lol

*edit;
Once Im done with my projects I do plan to take a group shot of them. It may be a little while though, cause Im busy changing my mind all the time. Lol

Yep; totally relate to the above MC79!!! I'll post pics as these get done. Probably finish the RG520QS first as I just need to grab a Brass Block Upgrage for the Original Edge. Will look forward to seeing your group shot!

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

The 570 is lookin good man! I really like that RGunslinger too! Nice that your son is into it as well. Itll be nice seeing muttznmongrelsjr posting here with his creations sometime! Gotta guide them proper! :)
Thanks for sharing

Re: Current Projects/Ibanez Content

Thank you! I'm just waiting on proper Trem Posts for the 570 will be ready to assemble/set up. Ha! I wish my son were into guitar; he's a lighting tech and that's where his passion lies. I pull the guitar out every once in a while to play it otherwise it would never see the light of day.
