Just got off the phone with my guitar tech. I had him install a 59/hybrid in the bridge, and I made clear I wanted the custom's slug coil to be the active one when split. After installing it he claims this is backwards to the design of the pickup, and told me that it "won't be as hot as it would usually be". Should I forget about it and leave it as it is or pay the extra 25 bucks to rewire it?
Edit: Reading the website it says "A traditionally wired coil split yields the stronger Custom coil for a robust split tone." Could he have accidentally wired it backwards when I told him I wanted the slug coil?
Actually I'd likely do it myself, originally was gonna have him put on triple shot mounting rings with the pickups but he made a big deal out of it and told me he'd have to find a wiring diagram and yadayadaya. After looking into it I realize it's not nearly as hard as he made it look.
