Custom Custom and an A/B Overdrive test

It is good to remember how every component in our signal chain counts. I was doing an A/B test between 2 overdrive pedals. The guitar (Jacaranda LP) and amp (Engl Screamer 50) are the same:

Bridge Custom Custom & Boss OD-3

Bridge Custom Custom & Banzai Fireball 2

It is interesting how 2 different pedals invite you to play in 2 different ways.

I was surprised with how well does the Boss OD sound considered it cost 3 times less than the Banzai.

there are a few mistakes here and there in the clips, sorry.....

Hey Marin, do you ever use just the gain on your Screamer without using pedals? Still sound good?

In this particular case, I actually use the first gain stage of the screamer with gain set to 10 o clock. Very light, crunchy gain and then I boost it with the pedals. The second boost level of the screamer is like an OD pedal, but I like variety so I use both.

Great sounds as usual, tone wise and playing wise.

Prefer the fireball.
