Custom Custom in Ibanez S570, Wow!

I have been wanting to try the Custom Custom in one of my guitars for a while now and finally decided to get one for my Ibanez Saber. My Saber is a very slim mahogany guitar with a Maple neck and a massive cut out for the Edge Zero Locking tremolo. I love the guitar. I play mostly LP's but needed something with a Floyd. I tried several LP's with Floyds and was not overly impressed. They either feel too bulky for a Floyded guitar or just do not sound right to me. This guitar fit the bill, built for speed, tuning stabilty, and great feel. I have had the guitar for about 9 months. At first I used the stock pups for a few months and they were not too bad. I tried a JB/Jazz set and they were OK but not quite right. After some consideration (and a desire to try test my skills) I purchased a set of EVOs. I really liked them in many ways, but something was missing for the type of music I play which is mostly 80's rock and metal.

Enter the Custom Custom in the bridge. I was worried that they would be too dark as I like the guitar a bit bright, but not overly bright. Reading the Seymour description worried me a bit. To me they are absolutely perfect for this guitar. I get the nice thick LPish sound I was looking for. I can get great EVH, Metallica, Def Leppard, Sabbath tones with these and with the tap and HSH setup I can get thin sounds as needed. Right now I still have the neck and middle EVOs but will probably change those to SD's soon.

I do not usually comment on pickups too much, because they are so subjective and your guitar, amp and pedals make a huge difference but these are special. If you want to make a thin guitar sound thicker these will do the trick. Keep in mind that I play through an Eleven Rack so I have many authentic amps and FXs to choose from and these work well with all.

when i tried the a2 magnet in my C5 i felt the pickup had too much of a frown, almost like a upside down U eq shape. bass and treble was backed off and the mids were pushed up to dominant sounding to get a really defined tone. the palm mutes were very sloppy compared to the original custom which to me has a perfect eq balance to it.
