custom custom or PG?

Hi,

as some might recall, I was looking for a custom custom to put in my alder/ash ESP horizon, tune-o-matic bridge.
It would be combined with either a '59 or APH-1 neck humbucker.
I'd like to be able to have a versatile combination (Jazz/fusion/clean stuff but also shred and metal).
Now I have the opportunity to buy a Pearly Gates bridge. is this one suitable for the styles described above? Especially to do some shred/technical stuff.

Also, I'd like to split the humbuckers. Which one sounds best split (for a more or less genuine SC sound)?
I use an Engl-amp wich has a lot of mids. The PG might compensate this a little? While the Custom Custum perhaps would emphasize the mids?

thanks!!

Re: custom custom or PG?

The PG + is an alnico 5 version of the Pearly Gates made exclusively for Fender by Duncan Pickups. The standard PG uses an alnico 2 magnet. The PG+ probably has more bass and brighter tone compared to the standard version.

Between the 59N or AIIPro neck humbucker the 59N probably has better single coil tone when split. I would describe the tone as very usable single coil tone but not the exact tone of a genuine Strat neck pickup.
