ok so peep this, my friend, user "n00b" is going with his friend to the factory tour in santa barbara on the 22nd and is picking me up a free pickup. Umm im kinda n00bish with guitars and stuff but i still know what i want...

So yeah i like them both cuz like the screamin demon is ultra hot sounding much like the ultra hot series from my epiphone but can also sound hecka sick to my taste when distorted...

But see the custom custom sounds really warm and that i also like... unno Van Halen type thing?

Can anyone help me?

BTW Seymour Duncan pickups own dimarzios !

Re: custom custom or screamin demon?

Welcome to the forum. What kind of amp do you have and what guitar will the pickup be going in?

Re: custom custom or screamin demon?

My comments:

'hecka sick'... is that supposed to be a positive or negative attribute?

Also, despite this being a SD forum, I would advise against inflammatory posts such as 'SD ownz DMZ d00dz' etc etc. At best, these posts attract unwarranted attention and do little to enrich the forum environment.

dude, the demon is like 10k! its not that hot.. its middle by most people's standards.. to compare, a vintage PAF is usually around 7-8k i think, and something like the hotrails is about 16k...

welcome to the board!

Re: custom custom or screamin demon?

I would say using a crate bass amp is not the best.
I would get an amp then worry about pickups.
Other than that both are great, it depends on what you want. If you are keeping the bass amp I would go for the demon.

I would a agree 100%. A good amp is far more important for great tone than good pickups.

Re: custom custom or screamin demon?

If the pup is gonna be free I'd go with a Custom. That way you can always switch out the mags for a different ones to find the tone your lookin for.

BTW, I have Demons in both of my guitars and plan on switching one of them out with a Custom. Just for a different flavor.

i dont have money for an amp, but i can get a new pickup, so i need to decide what pickup to get. i can borrow a digitech rp50 for distortion. i dont know very much about guitars and pickups.

Your not telling us what kind of tone you are going for. Of the 2 the custom custom is hotter but brighter.

Re: custom custom or screamin demon?

Oh, ok. i want to sound like the scorpions, i really like their sound. i also like van halens tone. just a good smooth distortion sound with warmth but enough distortion so it doesnt sound weak.
