custom fender jaguar

in the past week i took my MIJ POS and turned it into gold...well somewhat...first thing to go was that atrocious device of a bridge that is stock on all jags (dont ask me why!!) i swapped that for a schaller roller bridge and even tho the radius is different the intonation has improved tremendously....secondly i took out those stock pups because they were way too noisy but i still liked the sound so i threw in a vintage rails for the neck position and a cool rails in the bridge i also put a 3 way toggle on the uppermost panel between the switch and the first thumbwheel control to allow for series/split/parallel for the cool rails bridge i put new knobs on the bottom panel with the trs jack a a roller string tree for use with the tremelo arm...and of course schaller strap loks for playing purposes...now all that is left to do is install some kluson type locking tuners and mod the tremelo so it doesnt fall out and then off to fender to sell my ideas!!! hahaha!!!jk!! expect some pics in the coming days!! guaranteed beauty! though it is not all good...i dont think my toggle switch is working as well as the cool rails or the 3 switch panel....maybe not a success after all!

Re: custom fender jaguar

Sounds interesting ;)

I've had as good luck with MIJ Fenders as I have with MIA. They're quality pieces. A bit far from pieces of **** :D

I'm sure it sounds great with the rail pups, but do they really sound too jaggy at all?

the bridge is only atrocious if you can't figure out how to set it up, though a roller bridge is similar in principal believe it or not... You still have to deal with the radius. What kind of bridge did you use exactly? Many jag bridge swaps result in neck angle issues depending on what kind of bridge is used...

Do you really have that many tuning issues with yours? properly set up I can abuse the trem as much as I like and it won't throw it out of tune.

To keep the trem arm from falling out, take the trem assembly apart and you can see the two claws that are supposed to grip on the arm but don't. Pinch em together slightly with pliers. No more issues.

I always like coil splits :D

lookin forward to pics :)

Yes, Fender guitars are enjoyable.

Here are a few pictures of a couple...

Oh yea, Gretch is now owned by Fender.

Re: custom fender jaguar

i've heard a lot of people just put on a mustang bridge instead of the stock jaguar one- dosen't do much for the trem system, but the strings stay in the saddles!

Re: custom fender jaguar

stratman, your jags/jazzes look great.

imp, the only thing you need to do to a stock jag bridge to keep the strings from slipping off the saddles is widen the grooves with a file ;) no need for a stang bridge :D

Been there and done that, did not care for it.

BTW - Those saddles are not Mustang, there are Graftech saddles.
