Custom guitar pickup recommendation...

I am having a custom guitar built for me as a favor for doing a lot of computer work for my guitar instructor. He does build them from scratch and is using the woods he has on hand. It will have a Bubinga through neck(probably with a maple or ash stripe) and northern hard ash wings. It will also have two humbuckers with simple electronics, ie a master tone & volume and no coil split. While I am still very much a beginner and like many different types of music, I tend to favor 70's & 80's classic rock(AC/DC & GnR are my favorites and will go no heavier than Metallica). I have a Slash mentality as I plan on getting most of my distortion from my amp & pedals, so really don't need a super high output pickup. I am looking for a versatile set of humbuckers that do classic rock very well, including cleans, but that can also handle the brightness of the ash. I am not limited to Duncan pickups, but not a fan of Dimarizo pickups.

My first two thoughts would be...
PGn/CC
Slash set
*basically mid-output A2 humbuckers.

Other options might be...
P-Rail set
Lawrence L-500's...L(neck) & XL(bridge)?

Thoughts/recommendations?
