Custom or JB for Duo Sonic

I'm new to this and the world of changing pickups.
I am thinking about buying a fender offset duo sonic. It has an alder body, rosewood fretboard and 24 inch scale length
I have decided to change the neck pickup which is a single coil to an ssl6.
I am stuck between a jb or custom in the bridge.
I play heavy rock, metal, grunge and sometimes blues. So I would be looking to get tines reminiscent of nirvana, Alice in chains and stuff on the heavier side like some metal bands.

There is a coil split on whichever one I would choose,
Thanks!

Customs tend to do a little better. JB's really only belong in les pauls. Idk why but they just dont sound like a JB in anything else. The custom custom sounds really nice in alder bodies in my opinion

It's a matter of preference, I've always thought the opposite, I think customs are better in Les Pauls and JBs in most other guitars.

I can't say for sure with this model, but the other guitarist in my band uses a JB in a Jaguar with 24" scale and it works great for all of the styles you listed except maybe blues. If you're only occasionally playing blues then, with the coil split, you should be fine with a JB. If you wanted something that could do blues better, but still do heavier styles pretty well, take a look at the 59/Custom Hybrid.

+1 for the 59/custom hybrid. My new favorite pickup from SD. I usually just play Custom 8 and Alternative 8 but I recently installed the hybrid into an SG and Ill never look back.

I'd say either is a good choice. It is a good idea, once you get the guitar, is listen to the guitar's 'voice'. It might benefit from the JB's upper mids, or it might have a ton of mids, in which case the Custom's scoopy EQ might be better. Both pickups would do what you want well. I am more partial to the Custom, but that is just a personal preference.
