Custom shop Frankenstein pickup hum?

I just installed a Frankenstein bridge pickup and it hums almost as bad as a single coil. I went over my wiring and everything looks good. It’s just on this pickup. I soldered together the red/white wires and threw a piece of electrical tape on them like the instructions stated. Did I miss something or is that just how this pickup sounds? It’s not outlandishly bad and it’s worse when I hit it with my sd-1…it’s just super noticeable when I switch to the neck pickup which is near silent. This sounds similar to a single coil

Description makes me think either the baseplate bare is not fully connected or a guitar ground isn't soldered fully.

You could also wire this directly to the jack to see if there is something wrong with the pickup, but I am guessing there is a stray ground wire not connected well.

Based on SD's quality control vs. an individual's installation skills (no offense, I'm including myself here as well) it's most likely the installation. I second Mincer's suggestion; that's where I start trouble-shooting any pickup issue. Pickup--jack is always the acid test.

I tried hooking up the Frankie directly to an output jack and ju
Jumpered ground to the pots, same result same hum

By jumpering ground back to the pots, you've reintroduced whatever might be wrong with the guitar wiring. If you wire just the pickup to a jack and absolutely nothing else, do you get hum?
