Hi everyone!

The guy in the vídeo bellow says in the vídeo description that he is using "custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups and custom wiring/switching", i like the tone of the bridge Humbucker, can anyone guess what pickup is this? I'm very interested in this bridge Humbucker.

He's probably using a Pearly Gates Plus in the bridge.

Re: Custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups and custom wiring/switching

Well, he said they are custom shop Pearly Gates pickups....right?

Re: Custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups and custom wiring/switching

There is always the chance that he got his own custom wound version of the Pearly Gates. But I see two possibilities. He either got a set of PG's and thought they were Custom Shop, or he incorrectly named his Pearly Gate Plus as a normal Pearly Gates. Given the video, I think the second is more likely.

the pg+ only came from fender (duncan made of course) and never with a cover as far as i know. there is a cs version of the pg which is wound hotter than the production version. i dont see any reason to doubt the poster about what he has in the guitar but who knows

In the vídeo comments he says the following "Yeah I really liked em too and they sounded better to me with the covers on. They were just a smidge too bright with the covers off. "

I thought they are both called PG+? I guess it doesn't matter too much.

But it's important for thr OP to consider if you have a different setup from him, you won't get the same tone. The pickup is only a small part of a guitar which is a small part of the combined whole of you and all your equipment.

Just sounds like Pearly Gates with the covers on to me. Maybe it was shop floor custom to have covers installed? (I haven't really seen stock PGs in the wild with covers)

Re: Custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups and custom wiring/switching

Yeah, my guess is that it is an actual Custom Shop version of the PG. The Custom Shop version had been discussed a few times on this forum, and I was under the impression that it was slightly hotter.

They do come stock with covers. My first set of pickups I ever bought from SD was a nickel PGn and a nickel CC.

Re: Custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups and custom wiring/switching

yep, you can get pg's with covers pretty easily

Re: Custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups and custom wiring/switching

Yes, they are Custom Shop Pearly Gates pickups
I have a set in my #1 LP
They are 7.7 neck and 8.7 bridge
I've seen other CS sets and they are all wound a little hotter than the standard ones
They sound incredible
I also have a standard set in my black Custom LP and they are fantastic as well
But the CS ones are divine
