Custom shop single coil size humbucker questions

OH THE DOUBLE THICK GLAZE!
I have a JB Jr neck in middle position on my strat and really like the gritty mids. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to go custom shop to make it sound even more like a bridge hb. I would do JB Jr/Lil Screamin Demon hybrid with rails and A8. My 2 main questions are: 1. Would the rails take away too much grit that the screws seem to provide? 2. Would the custom shop be able to work its magic to make the hybrid even more gritty, dry, and bridge like. Or would it be not that much better than the JB Jr's voicing?

Re: Custom shop single coil size humbucker questions

the custom shop can works some magic for sure but getting a middle pup to sound like a bridge pup isnt easy. also putting a8 in the middle and specifying rails is gonna make it even harder. if you are gonna do it, id let them do what they think is best

Re: Custom shop single coil size humbucker questions

Are you asking if it is worth it to modify what you have? If so, no, just get a new pickup. But explain what you want to the Custom Shop and they will tell you if your design will get you what you want (and give you a quote). Hint: You can never be too specific.

Re: Custom shop single coil size humbucker questions

Im not sure that's technologically possible with the parts they use

Rails and I think the Jb Jr and Lil Demon too use a specific smaller size ceramic mag glued on the bottom, kinda like cheapo asian single coils

Maybe you wanna try doubling up bottom mags on your Jb Jr?

They don’t make them that way any longer and they haven’t for quite a few years now.

Yeah, the Pearly Gates is even made with an A2.
