Custom vs Distortion vs Full Shred for tracking and clarity

Re: Custom vs Distortion vs Full Shred for tracking and clarity

I use 11-56 for D Std. I don't use a heavier gauge for the low A because it's something I do like... 5% of the time, if that. Not worth having a separate guitar/separate setup for.

Though eventually I will probably just get a 7 string.

I love Mastodon. Just sayin

Me too. I remember when they were first starting out and they'd come over to Augusta from Atlanta and only wanted gas money. I was mostly into hardcore and punk at the time , and had booked troys other band social infestation a couple of times so I didn't know what to expect. All I can say is I stood in amazement for their entire set. I was mesmerized by the drummer. Come to think of it that was a turning point for me expanding my musical tastes into different territories. Great guys, great band.

Don't get me wrong the Distortion is a beast and is pretty tight on the Lows but for what your asking for... the Full Shred, hands down. The Full Shred is more articulate than the

Distortion and IMO cleans up better. Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth used the Full Shred Set in his PRS for years.....those pickups can cover quite a bit of ground.

The full shred is great, but the full shred with double thick ceramic mag is even better.

I recently made a DD/FS hybrid with double ceramic and it is pretty awesome, tight, articulate, crunchy, good lows. Very punchy. Easily the best of the bunch, though I still need to try a full shred/invader with super d screws hybrid.
