Hey thanks Benjy_26 for the suggestion, I'm liking it...backgound is a very bright strat (floating trem & pao ferro board) which needed a smooth bridge pickup.
The CC is not at all what I hear on the Duncan clips, at least the clean tone isn't - must be this axe, it has a nice chimey top end, whereas the duncan clip sounds murky. CC is smoother than the Fred, so no icepicks, hooray. The mids are definately big and sometimes almost too much, but the CC still retains the "open" feel of a PAF-type pickup. Compared to the JB in my SG, it's got more bottom end (surprise there), much less compressed sound, more chime and more output (go figure...must be the guitar).
Only had a chance to play for about 10 min last night, so just one short crude clip on my 'guitars' site, but you can compare it to the Fred clip, big difference....
