Cutting the poles

So I'm in the process of installing a jazz neck. My guitar is routed to screw pickups to the body, so its impossible to lower the pickup. My only option is to shorten the flathead screws that stick out of the baseplate. Is this going to negativley effect the tone?

Re: Cutting the poles

Cutting the screws make the pickup tighter and more focused , only good .

Re: Cutting the poles

Its not really a problem anymore. I realized my shim got caught underneath the screw side and thats what made the whole pickup go up so high. Thanks anyway guys.

You can't put a wooden or other spacer between the two so that you don't have to cut?
