I posted a message about several sets of defective Daddario 9 gauge strings, as I had found new defective sets in a new 10-pack after having had a few defective sets previously. I had originally sent 3 sets of defective strings back to Daddario's address and received no reply through mail or the message I left on their website. When I posted here, and on a youtube review of DAddario strings about the new defective packs, a rep immediately contacted me and provided me with the email address of another rep who could fix the problem.

Not only did Daddario replace the 5 defective sets I had problems with, but they went WAY overboard sending many other sets of various strings for me to sample and a string winder/cutter. I'm glad to know that I had simply contacted them in the wrong way initially, and my complaints had slipped through the cracks. When they became aware of the problem they did so much to correct it that I feel guilty for having complained. DAddario has been my favorite string manufacturer for decades, and I go through a lot of their 9-gauge sets stringing student guitars at school. Its good to know that if one of their winding machines does have a glitch once in a great while, they will replace them quickly. Thanks to all the guys at DAddario for taking care of their customers.

Always complain on social media. It feels like it's hard for companies to care about one guy's email but put it out in the open for everyone to see and repost and Google search and suddenly everyone's problems aren't just an issue of replacing a product or correcting bad service. Now every customer can be a PR nightmare.

I am a fan of Cleartones on acoustic guitars. I mentioned it once on Gibson's Forum and they sent me a whole box of them. That was rather cool...

Now "defective" strings... How so? Ball ends coming off or were the strings rusty?

I had a problem with some new Ernie Ball strings snapping the at the ball end. Turned out, my old Schaller tailpiece on an 1985 Heritage H-140 Custom was sharp and cutting into the string... EB still sent me a 1/2 box of new strings. I did not go through social media either.

Hmm, be right back - need to complain about Katy Perry...

Agree with the social media thing, that definitely trips quick interest. I've had the likes of Sky, and Parcel Force reply to a mere mention of my unhappiness in a Tweet, so no doubt companies have someone/thing on the lookout.

I'm a huge fan of their strings and am glad to hear they take care of their customers. Awesome!

D'addario has always been very cool like that. I've been a D'addario string user for the vast majority of my playing career, and I mentioned on this very board about how I wasn't really enjoying the NYXLs compared to the standard XLs and I seemed to be having the opposite experience from most people as far as tone and feel, and I got a PM from the D'addario rep offering to send me another pack to try in my preferred gauge, that wasn't available during launch. What a nice gesture!!

In this day and age there are so many players than there were, even 10-15 years ago, that you really have to be on top of your game to maintain your reputation and stand out. I think D'addario gets that.

I once complained to LaBella for a defective and rusty set of strings I got to their e-mail and never got an answer.
Much unlike (unrelated) Skullcandy, who did treat me quite well for a set of headphones that failed on me.

I will never buy a LaBella product again, that's for sure.

And I've heard nothing but great stories on D'Addario's customer service, so thumbs up there.

I've played D'Addario since I was 15 years old. That's a long time, now. I only rarely venture off the reservation to Ernie Ball occasionally, but for my guitar stuff, it's D'Addario all the way.

The problem I had with them (and they were all the same string) was that the wind was missing halfway up the smallest wound string. The first time I didn't notice it until I was already strung up and trying to tune and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the sound until I looked closer.

I had a bad cable from D'Addario. Just took it back to the shop were I purchased from and they replaced it no problem. But I have heard from friends who have said all good things about D"Addario looking after the customers.

I got a bad American stage cable that had a bad solder joint to a connector. I could have fixed it, but I just sent it back to amazon. No problems. Idk if D'addario or Amazon bit the bullet though

I had the same issue, 4th string was only wound about a foot. I emailed them and they answered promptly, sent a replacement string and a full set alomg with a couple of stickers.

I didn't get any stickers
But they sent me a replacement pack of strings
When on pack had two D strings and no G

I've never had an issue with D'Addario, and I really like their stuff, especially the Planet Waves series.

My brother is a D'Addario artist, they take excellent care of him.
