I don't know how many of you use that brand of strings, but I figured I'd pass along the deal. I don't know if it's a Black Friday thing or what. I just bought a shipload of them. That $25 gift certificate thingie they sent me the other day sure was nice of them. I just bought 30 sets of strings for $50.:)

Re: D'Addario Electric Guitar Strings For $2.50 Per Pack

No deal on 9-42's?

9-46 is my favorite flavor. A bit more bottom end crunch.

Having said that, D'Addario has always been cheap meh to me. I have a box of their strings that are about 15 years old I bought on a similar deal. I only break open a pack when I break a string.

I'm reposting, but might as well share!

The Music Zoo has Fender Bullets at $0.99 a pack.
Sweetwater has GHS 5 packs at $14 ($2.80 a pack).
MF has Dean Markley strings at $26 for a 12 pack. (That works out roughly to $2.25 a pack.)

Good deals all around.

I tried to order some of those last night and it would let me only order one pack and shipping was like $5.65 or something.

Anyone in the UK would expect to just change the currency symbol. I can see myself doing way too much shopping in Austin next March.

Ugh that blows! I really considered them but ended up just buying the usual...the Dean Markleys. I'd like Ernie Ball to come out with better sales more often.

Re: D'Addario Electric Guitar Strings For $2.50 Per Pack

Yeah they didn't have my gauge either. I use the XL 115's which are 11 thru 49. The difference from 49 to 52 is significant other wise I would have bought them. Thanks jolly!

Re: D'Addario Electric Guitar Strings For $2.50 Per Pack

And I almost bought my 9-46s locally yesterday for $7.99 a pack. Thanks for the heads up Jolly

Never bought from Gearnuts before!

Well, I've used the Reissues for about a year now. They're round core, which to some people spells tone goodness, and to some others spells potential hazard, for several reasons.

Since the NPS wrap has full contact with the core whereas hex cores don't, some people say round cores sound better, but hex cores have less of a chance of the wrap slipping and ruining the string. Some people also say round cores are easier to play and feel softer under your fingers.

My take on all of this is:

-They sound good. It's not Thomastik or anything, but they work for me. They are fairly neutral, not GHS Boomer bright nor Thomastik Blues Sliders warm, so if you're looking for either these won't be the ticket. In my guitar, with my pedals and cables and through my amp that's my impression. Neutral.

-I'm on pack number 8 IIRC, and I've had no breakage or wrap slips yet. I use a hardtail and I'm a relatively heavy bender, and I always keep all string contact points in tip top shape. I read on the wrap slip issue with roundcores before, so I always check the wound strings when changing them, and they're all in perfect shape everytime.

-Feelwise, I wouldn't say there's a noticeable difference in feel from a hex core.

-Durability: This is something I won't comment on, because while they last a good while for me your sweat/environment/etc is different to mine so I think it's a moot point.

tl;dr: Basically, they're a good string. Nothing special, I've used worse and better strings. That price point makes them a better buy than most stuff out there though, IMO.
