So i am playing a 24.75 scale guitar, it is very bright sounding and im looking for new strings for drop c... im finding it hard to find the right strings, im wondering if i should go for the d'addario 12-60s, i like my strings quite heavy, i generally use earny ball power or heavy bottom skinny top strings for standard and drop d, but i heard i can get better life out of d'addarios and a little heavier would be nice.

What gauge you have there now?
I just switched to Dunlop 10-52 for Drop C and they're darker than Elixirs and probably darker than D'addarios too from what I remember. Like them a lot but these are softer strings.
You might want to try the NYXL sets from D'addario since they're supposed to have higher tension than average.

currently running earnie ball no even slinkies in drop b... i find them too floppy, especially the low e... it is just floppy and veryyyyy buzzy... that is why i am going up to drop c and upping my action, i want to eliminate some of the crazy amounts of buzz i have so cleans are somewhat playable or just acoustically, but in general i want a very tight string set... i normally practice acoustic and can bend most acoustic strings so i want my electric to be just under the tension of acoustic for slightly more ease.

also just to add, i played power slinkies on a fender strat and found those to be perfect

NYXL are fantastic strings for guitars with floyd rose. I doubt tho, that they would make much difference for a fixed bridge with already established tuning stability, but the OP didn't clarify that. As a side note, I think I found them to have slightly lower tension (more spongy) than the previous daddario ones I had. So overall they are better strings. But they have 2 times the price as well.

Have you tried putting regular 10-46 gauge strings on E std and addressing buzzing issues and setup with those? Make your guitar play perfect under the most usual conditions (string gauge, tuning), setup bridge, nut, neck relief to your liking and then go for a similar tension and geometry under heavier gauge and lower tunings.
IMHO, a loq 60 string should not buzz when tuned in B. 11-54 should be great for drop-C, and 12-60 should be a little stiffer in drop-C, B from C is only half step down.

Doesn't Dunlop make something called "Heavy Core"? I'd try those. Or just get a 7-string.

i got the 12-60s on and guitar tuned up and intonated properly, the dude at the shop also put my action slightly higher as he said my action was very low. I just finished playing now and the strings are absolutely perfect, exactly what i was looking for, bending is very easy on higher strings and the lower strings stay solid under very heavy picking!

I typically use 56-13 with open B.

Here's your next set:

Try the Dunlop heavy core 12-54, perfect for that tuning on Gibson scale and they're just better strings in, my opinion.

I use 13-64 for B/drop A.

One more option for you if you ever wanna try something else.

I've used the Zakk Wylde gauge set for years in my Les Pauls tuned to D. And I occasionally do Drop C. So it's 10-60 (10, 13, 17, 36, 52, 60) So the thin strings are prefect for soloing and the thick string are quite alot stiffer and perfect for heavy riffing.

Re: d'addario exl148 12-60 strings for drop c on 24.75

I like the D'Addario 11-56 (EXL117) for dropped C(I also have one guitar with c standard, but it's a tad slinky in this gauge). I've used 10-56 from DR for dropped C also and I liked those a lot. I haven't been playing many drop tunings lately, but I'm looking to get into an 11-60 or 11-59 set for c-standard.

So, I'd say give the 11-56's a try.

i got the 12-60s, they seem to be nearly perfect, except id want the g string be wound, i find it a little loose... but otherwise the 60 for my 6th string is awesome! perfect, any bigger and it would be too tight, any less and it would flap too much

Much more and you all will be playing bass.

Oh yeah I for got about the DR 10-56 which I use on several guitars tuned to D or Drop C as well. It's a very good option for D/DropC if you don't want/need as much tension. I have an SG with 10-56 tuned to Open C (CGCGCE) (Devin FTW!) It's pretty perfect for that.

However even with my LP's with 10-60 tuned to D, I still sometimes hit that Low D (60), and it's pretty thick, and it goes way sharp. So if one wants to play lower than D, at least in my experience, you're always better of with at least 25,5 inch scale preferably longer. I have one Ibanez RG with 9-42 in standard E and I cannot hit it hard enough to make it go out of tune. So the scale makes much more difference in the feel/tension/tuningstability than string gauge or helps more at least.
