Damaged knife edge on original floyd rose? How bad?

Hi,

I am getting some tuning issues after using the floyd rose tremolo-arm.
It gets either slightly sharp or flat after performing a dive-bomb.

I have never done any lubrication on this after over 10 years with this guitar.

I have added some pictures. How bad are the damages? Is it easy to fix with sandpaper or something?

Thanks in advance.

Before we can make any solid decisions on whether it's the knife edge (those things can be hard to see), have you checked to see if it's your strings or maybe even springs just getting old? Strings get old fast, and after 10 years even springs can get old. The two big questions are what quality guitar is it on and was the trem made before or after Floyd Rose switched to lower quality metals?

I don't think it is my strings. Those are not very old. The springs also look good to me.
It is on a fender guitar which was bought new in year 2004. Not sure about Floyd Rose quality metals.

I have no idea how to fix it, but that does sound like it could be the knife edges. Two other areas to look into:

-The locking nut parts because they do wear (especially the G string, if it's moving at all because it's plain, it will give you the same headache as bad knife edges or a non-locking)

-It could also be the poll pieces as well as knife edges.

The easiest thing to try first is to exchange the 1-2 locking clamp with the 3-4 and see if anything happens. You can do that w/o changing the strings. If it helps at all, then try getting new of those (are they called pressure pads? I can't remember)

Can't hurt.

I lube the edge with Chapstick ( a trick from Satch's tech), and that will help. The edges do not look that bad (I have a few OFR that date to the 1980s) so try to lube the knife edges, and maybe a new set of springs.

Thank you Toowrongfoo. I didn't know about this.

Thank you Ayrton. I will try to use some chapstick :).
