Damaged pup

Im surprised and ashamed of myself, 15 years in the electronics business knowing good and well how to handle a soldering iron... I found the cause of my brand new P-rail bridge pup not working properly and it's most likely where the hum is coming from too. In a place very hard to see a soldering iron burn on the 6 wire cable from the pup to the tripleshot circuit board. But like the saying goes stuff happens.......Any way my question is does Seymour Duncan do repairs, I dont expect it to be covered as it is my fault. Or should I take the loss and order up a new pup???

I must be getting old....never been so careless... Don

Re: Damaged pup

Is the damage to the ribbon cable of the triple shot? If so, you'll probably just have to replace it.

Oh, then definitely go with Mincer's suggestion.

Re: Damaged pup

I decided to replace with a new one and still have the damaged one repaired and install that one in a different guitar, Now that is done and there are still problems, in some of the triple shot modes there is a ground hum in other modes there is no hum. This occurs in both neck & bridge pup's.

Re: Damaged pup

In what modes is it humming? There will certainly be hum in the single coil modes. I'd also try it in different rooms, and a different building if you get a chance. Sometimes there are just noisy places. But the humbucker series and parallel modes shouldn't hum...well, maybe a tiny bit since the coils are not identical.

Re: Damaged pup

^This.. you have 2 humbucker and 2 single coil modes.. so..60cycle hum on the single coil settings is par for the course (they should hum cancel in when paired with another p-rail however)

This statement convinces me there is a bad ground and or the guitar is picking up EM or something, The hum Im getting should not be as bad as this hum, of course the hum is worse in the single coil mode. I have some black conductive paint, it cant hurt painting the electronics cavity. I also have some copper foil but I dont like using it, I never get it right
