Dammit. Scale lengths.....

Hi,

I was looking around recently for a reasonably cheap strat-type guitar to drop a Warmoth baritone conversion neck onto:

http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/necks.cfm?fuseaction=baritone

Eventually I stumbled across a Yamaha RGX 112 at a very cheap price so I bought it.

Having measured up the scale on it, it looks like it has a 24.75" scale. The Warmoth neck I'm looking at is designed to replace the neck on a 25.5" scale instrument, isn't it? :smack: :yell: :duh:

I just want to gauge some opinions as to what I should do. Should I just sell the guitar on, and get something with the correct scale length, or try to make it work on this one? I suspect I'll end up having to move the bridge at the very least, which is of the vintage strat style. I'll probably end up converting the bridge to a fixed operation too, since I suspect it won't be able to cope with a set of baritone strings otherwise.

Does this all sound like too much hassle? Should I just sell it and get a Squire strat or something instead? I'll be changing out the pickups on both in any case.

Thanks,

Dave.

Get yourself a Fernandez MIJ strat or tele. I got my ash tele with a one piece maple neck and three saddle bridge for $200 with a case. It's a very high quality instrument for the money and it will satisfy your scale length requirements.
