Damn I should know this already (Truss rods)

A friend gave me a neck with no fretboard and a truss rod that was pulled out

Now I can't seem to figure out which side faces toward the fretboard, I believe it's the flat sidetruss.jpg

That is a Martin style rod

Hohoho man, a lot of people were telling me that they couldn't identify it, silly them

I just got the rod in the neck just now and it's nice and flush with the neck, would it still be fine? The rod itself still functions, and I don't want to put as much money into this guitar seems it's practically my training wheels and the body is made from plywood.

Oh, forgot to mention
Seems that this is just for practice, would PVA glue do fine? Or is epoxy 100% necessary?

Re: Damn I should know this already (Truss rods)

PVA will not stick to the channel, so epoxy it is.

The bottom of the neck channel should be square, and you run two thin beads of epoxy down each corner.

Some will cover the opening with masking tape to help prevent epoxy from touching the actual rod.

You want the back of the channel (upper) to be flush the surrounding neck.
