i went to the local guitar store today, just to see if theres anything new cause i havent been there in a while...i couldve walked out with 3 guitars and a bass. :saeek:
the first thing i tried was the gibson '61 SG reissue. it played amazingly, and sounded really good too- lots of SG bite. i honestly wouldve bought it right then and there, but i prefer thick heavy guitars, and with that pricetag i want something completely prefect. it had one of the best necks ever, just felt really smooth and solid.
next was a lp standard in lightburst...hands down the best standard ive ever played. while i prefer the 50's neck, the 60's on this one was really nice. it sounded killer too. good thing i was sitting on the floor playing it, cause the people working there couldnt see me over the stacks and i mustve been playing this lp for at least half an hour. i came closest to buying this one, but it was $19xx, and thats just way too much (im only 18).
then the hamer artist, korina i think, loved this one too. the vintage P90's sounded amazing. i loved the fat distorted neck pickup tones, and the bridge actually handled high gain stuff really well. i also played a hamer newport, which was also great. the artist was $1000 i think, and i absolutely woulda bought it, but it had a sparkley silver finish and i dont really see myself buying that.
then i went to the basses. i found this one MIM p-bass that played just as good as the MIA ones...probably shoulda bought that one, but im getting a bass for xmas anyway. then i played this warwick thumb bass and that was probably my favorite bass ive ever tried. it just kicked ass. no price tag though.
overall i had a fun trip to the store...and i wish i had more money haha
