Danelectro Dan Echo 18 volts?????

Picked up one of these used and found that it takes 18 volts, or two 9 volt batteries!

Most websites show it as 9 volts.

Are there two versions of this pedal???

Anyway, for the price, what a delay! Was not expecting to like it so much. It does sound really good. Tone is there, and very little if any noise. Good control of the delays with the tone control is what makes this work for me.

Anyone with more knowledge of this pedal??

must be 2 versions mine takes 1 9v.

worst buffer ever... pretty nice echo and slap sounds can be had.

Yep, the old ones are 18V. So was the Cool Cat Chorus.

Hold on pardner, I have a Dan Echo from when they first rolled off the line back in '99, and none of them sum-guns ran on 18 volts. You might have something hot-rodded or sumthin.

here's mine.

I think it was the delay and chorus that ran on 18v, and only for the first year they made them, this the scarecity of the power supplies.

Its true- great pedal but worst buffer ever . Listen to your with it off, then plugged directly- you should notice a drop in sound quality- unless the send/return fixes that.

As an echo, its great for muddier, atmospheric slapbk & outdoorsy echo

Re: Danelectro Dan Echo 18 volts?????

I wonder if there is a big difference in headroom or tone from the 18 volt version.

Re: Danelectro Dan Echo 18 volts?????

I also have the 18 volt version of the Cool Cat Chorus, and enjoy it much more than the other chorus pedals I own. I have a Hardwire and a Chorus Factory and both do have there moments in my chain. The Cool Cat seems to have something extra.....sparkle.., thickness that just makes me smile when I play it. I have not noticed the tone suck or volume loss with this 18 volt version of the pedal.

I will try the Dan Echo out for this little experiment also and get back to you. I would think with 18 volts on tap there would be plenty of headroom and the buffer should not affect the tone or volume, but I will experiment and let you know.

I feel exactly the same way about the tone of the 18 volt version Cool Cat Chorus. What I don't like is I can hear the effect 'switch out''; when notes decay below a certain volume the effect goes away with a little 'pop' sound and I only hear the dry tone.

Luckily, just a couple of weeks ago, I found the first replacement that I've been happy with in all this time. The TC Electronics Corona Chorus does that tone in the 'tri-chorus' mode. It sounds just great.
