D’Avanzo (XSSIVE) Clone #13 – (Eric Johnson / Charvel Mutt with Top End Components)
FOR SALE, NO TRADES. USA LOWER 48 STATES SHIPPING ONLY
Here is an early Mike D’Avanzo Clone build from when he was experimenting before creating his own brand.
The original thread detailing the build is here:
https://forum.seymourduncan.com/sho...rat-body-meets-my-router!!&highlight=clone+13
Summary of the key specs are as follows:
Body: Fender Eric Johnson Sunburst Strat (1 piece alder finished in 2 tone nitro sunburst) routed for a humbucker
Pickups: WCR Godwood Bridge / WCR single coil neck
Pot: WCR CTS 550K
Neck: 1/4 sawn oiled maple neck with specs modeled after Mike’s custom shop charvel (i.e. C-shape, large frets, 12 inch radius, and rolled edges)
Nut: Mammoth ivory from Bob Colosi
Trem: Real vintage charvel brass bridge
Other hardware: Vintage charvel brass
Tuners: Black Sperzel with mismatched gold plated on high e (gold tooth style similar to George Lynch Guitars), I will include a black high e Sperzel as well.
I have had my luthier perform the following modifications/changes to the guitar since I received it from mike including:
- Changed the Seymour Duncan Pickups to WCR
- Changed the plastic nut to mammoth ivory
- Changed the tuners to Sperzel locking
- Removed the sticker on the back
The guitar has been played a lot and I would rate the condition 8 out of 10. The nitro finish has some light pick scratches and dings in a few areas and some minor buckle rash. There are absolutely no functional issues. The guitar was professionally setup with Ernie Ball 10s by Fred Marota in San Diego.
The price is $1,050 including shipping and paypal (SOLD). If you can pick up in Dallas Texas and pay in cash I would remove $100 from the price. The guitar would ship professionally packed in a hard generic Warwick case with a rip in the Tolex (not a looker) that has always protected the guitar.
