dave murray strat

Re: dave murray strat

janick is the only one who still uses strat-trems regularly, as far as i know. adrian & dave always have floyds on their strats lately

Re: dave murray strat

Re: dave murray strat

I've always been led to believe that the guitar in question was previously Paul Kossoff's Strat (it was white then and original) as seen on the cover of his 'Back Street Crawler' album. What has happened to it is a travesty, the world is full of Strats to ruin, why oh why ruin PK's ? Would D Murray have done the same to a Strat that had belonged to Hendrix ?? Every time i see or hear about 'the dave murray strat', i wince. PK himself said it didn't intonate well, but it is inextricably linked to him and should never have been defiled in such a way. I also heard that D Murray was thrilled to get to own PK's Strat, so what in the hell was he thinking?? Thank heavens he never got his hands on any of Koss' Les Pauls.....

What would you rather he did with it? Hung it on a wall, or kept it in some massive collection like Malmsteen does?
At least this way it's had a great "life" and, once again, is revered by guitar fans all over the world.

giving a guitar to malmsteen is a step down man. have you ever seen how he keeps his guitars?! they're all stacked against eachother against the wall in his in-home studio.

Oddly I like that fact that there was a time when people were still willing to mod an old guitar, without fearing for it's value, or de-valuing it's heritage.
If Hendrix had lived long enough I have no doubt that he'd have shoved humbuckers and floyds into his strats without thinking about it :)

No doubt - not to mention he was already swapping necks on bodies (sometimes NOT for reasons having to do with him smashing it...lol), and re-bending his tremolo arms more to his liking...chances are if you (by some freak accident) stumbled upon an unknown closet-classic guitar of his it might not be "all original"...

Take that, cork-sniffers!!
