Dave's Live 8 pure tone with Seymour Duncan pickups

Hello everybody, I'm just a fan of David Gilmour's sounds. I'm looking for the pickups he uses on his black stratocaster. You can hear it on the Live 8. I read on the web that he uses a Seymour Duncan custom made but I don't now which one it is.. I know he uses a lot of Seymour Duncan on his guitars except the dg20 system on candy apple red strats. I really love all his sounds. I have an humbucker (pearly gates) on my stratocaster but the sound is so far different. I hope you will have an answer..

after a bit of experimentation last night, i've come the the conclusion that a lot of dave gilmour's sounds are more due to the fact he's modded some of his strats so that you can have the neck pickup allowed at any time... having a strat neck and bridge at the same time is quite recognisable.. the solo to comfortably numb is there for the taking! :)

before you buy new pickups, i'd recommend using one of your unused tone knobs and making it a volume control for the neck pickup, bypassing the switch :)

As far as i know D.Gilmour hasn't used Duncans. For the most part of his carreer he used stock fender single coil pickups......he briefly used a dimarzio in the bridge pos of his black strat and after 1984 he uses emgs (both live and in the studio).......

"""They are seymours, custom made and fairly hot"""

ccgx is a music store, just have a look in their clients section :

I know that I use Seymours on his esquire and on other guitars. that's why I asked this. Thanks a lot by advance.

Thanks for your answer. Yes this is a very very very good site but it is written that the autor will not dig more than the old era of pink floyds.. :smack:
The site I gave you tell that he had changed his pickups. Do you think it's wrong ?
Thanks a lot !
