so i am in dire need of some software. all i need is a way to record sound as digital clips, and manipulate that sound, preferably on some sort of sequencing type doohikky. as in like, i play a riff on guitar, and then i can change the pitch, the decay, attack, etc., and cut and paste and clip wht sections i want, etc. i have a mixer with firewire, so i would need something compatible with that. and hopefully it is free.

what i want is similar to fruity loops' system, how you can manipulate (edit) all the different digital sounds and place then where you want on the track.

To do these things convincingly is tough at best, Melodyne is the best tool I know of and it isn't free. Most full fledged DAW software can handle these tasks some better than others.

I use reaper for everything.

If you know how to cut and paste for wordprocessing, you know how to use ezdrummer which costs a 100$ and then you are on your way!

reaper is free for 30 days and there is a free program as well too. there are backing tracks you can buy if you dont want ezdrummer.

i just downloaded reaper and the manual

i skimmed the manual and looked in the index and so far i havent found which "fx" allow me to edit soundclips.

anyone helpi??

I don't know reaper but it would be a .wav editor not an fx. See if there's a .wav editor in the program.
