DCR tolerance

What is the tolerance on the DC resistance spec for SD pickups?

I just measured mine and they're both a bit low:
PGB - 8.03 (8.1 spec)
JazzN - 7.23 (7.5 spec)

Are these values normal? What effect might the lower values have on the sound?

Resistance varies with ambient temperature. So a variance of 1K is not uncommon.

...and it's Winter. Far too much energy is wasted over worrying about DCR in this forum.

I know, there have been three threads about it this week alone. So long as it's sounds good, don't worry about the numbers.

Re: DCR tolerance

i believe there is a 10% tolerance but theres plenty of other things that influence the reading (meter and temp being the most prominent) since they both read low id guess your meter reads a little low. no biggie, i have one of those too.

in general having fewer turns will give a slightly brighter tone with a little less density but tighter bottom

Re: DCR tolerance

On other forums, people will send pickups back being .1 off of the stated specs (it is revealed that they know little about pickups, and don't care to learn- they know what they know, dammit!).
