oh.. so will i be able to switch the split humbucker from full humbucker to a single coil type thing by just flicking the switch one more knotch?
yep;)

or use a push pull pot... push in the pot, pull it out to activate it... don't have to drill a hole

alright, and i'd only be able to pull it out when its on the DD or what?
there are other ways to do it... but that's probably what you'd want to do. Wire the switch into the neck pickup, when the neck pickup is active, the switch will split it. I've got a clever setup on mine... I've got a 3 way switch that puts the bridge DD in parallel, split, or normal mode, and a phase switching switch that puts both pickups out of phase when they're active. I can make all kinds of cool sounds that way... the only reason I haven't sold this axe

Re: DD in neck

by what you said it seems like the pickup automatically becomes split when i flick the switch to that pickup...

what if i were to leave it pulled out and switched it to the bridge pickup which wont be split... will it still work as the normal humbucker that it is or will i need to push it back in for that pickup to work?

sorry for all the questions by the way

no problem:D

the pickup will stay in whatever state you leave the switch in, no matter which pickup you use. If you have the DD split, then switch to bridge, then back to dd, the dd will still be split

...and vice versa;)

everythings normal... the bridge pickup would be full humbucking.

Re: DD in neck

alright awsome... and say i wanted to use the humbucker for a song or something, like maybe i wanted to use the split pickup as a single coil and a humbucker in one song... is it easy to switch from single coil and humbucker in a song, in other words is it easy to pull it out and push it in?

and would i want to have a seperate setting on my amp for when i switch it to single coil from humbucker? or would it sound just fine if i used the same setting on my amp for when it is a humbucker or a single coil.

i think those just MIGHT be my last questions, you never know though

Easy as push/pull:) well... as for eqing, basically, it's like having two pickups in one... it will depend on the character of your "two pickups".

I would roll back the treble just a bit when I switched to single coil. Or maybe it'll sound fine on your amp/guitar on the same EQs... experiment!

Re: DD in neck

alright yeah... i might as well get this pickup split, whats there to lose right? or does it make the humbucking part sound worse? hehe

no change in humbucking mode for me... it just saved me from having to buy a strat:D

Re: DD in neck

also, I should mention that different people prefer to have the slug or screw coils split... it's all preference... I prefer slug coil as it's not quite as bright.

which ones are the slug coils and which are the screw coils?
slug coils- coils without the screws in them (flat, silver dots)

screw coils- the bottom coil, the one with the screwheads on the raised silver dots:D

and splitting gets rid of most of the hotness. It will still be hotter than a normal strat pickup, only slightly though, just turn down the gain :smoker:

thanks... you inspired me to break out my Schecter:D

Re: DD in neck

no no...thank you... for letting me let you break out your schecter :fing25: haha just kidding bout the fingers i thought thatd be funny though

so if i tell him to split the slug coil... when i switch my humbucker to single coil, which one is gonna work, the slug or the screw?

when i get this pickup split is it not gonna be as hot anymore overall? or is that just when i switch it to single coil?

the fingers always funny:D
If you want him to split the slug coil, tell him that you want the slug coil to be active when the split is in effect. Anyways, I believe splitting the slug coil is the standard way to do it...

the pickup in normal mode will be just as hot as it ever was...

hehe... no problem:) It basically sounds like any strat single coil distorted... So, brighter than a humbucker, with more clarity. Like any strat. If you like that tone, that's what you'll get.

Re: DD in neck

alright... well ill most likely be using it as a humbucker most the time except when im playing a mellow song or whatever, i probably wont use it for every acoustic part in a song i play cause even when the DD isnt split i hear the clean is pretty nice
