I own a new Fender American Deluxe Precision Bass V Ash (5-String). It's a great bass, nice neck, well balanced, great looking instrument. Fender did a great job on the fit and finish as well.
Here's the problem. The bass is very subdued. It has no punch. I own several passive basses (including P's) and they all blow the Deluxe (active) P5 away. This thing just won't cut through. Before anyone asks, I've already changed the batteries, twice.
The pickup layout is as follows: 1 Vintage Spec Split Single-Coil 5-String Precision Bass Pickup (Mid), 1 Special Design 5-String Humbucking Pickup (Bridge).
Does anybody kmow if SD has a hotter set of PU's that will fit?
