Dean Soltero?

Popped into a local music shop today and out of interest (looking for a cheap, plain Les Paul-ish dbl HB guitar to mess around with) picked up a Korean-made Soltero. Didn't have huge expectations but it blew me away - nice workmanship, no sharp frets or dead spots, even colouring on the frretboard and no sloppy glue marks. Plugged in it sustained really well dropped D'ed, had a really full tone soloing, and was pleasantly surprised by the pickups.

Course it would be better with Duncans :naughty:

Anyone else own the Soltero or have experiences? I'm thinking the Korean version of maybe the newer MIJ SL?

Re: Dean Soltero?

I really like the ones I've played. Thought hard about getting one of the Leslie West signature models after seeing Mountain play a few years ago.

It's on my GAS list. I only know of a couple Dean dealers in the area, and last time I was in one of them they didn't have any Solteros, which was probably a good thing. Haven't had a chance to play one yet, I'm just infatuated with the drop dead-sexiness of the design.

the solteros are great guitars. i have owned a mij SL, a us mhg and one of the mik standards. dollar for the the mik one was right up there with the $2000 sl. plus i liked how the standard had alot of the same features as the usa ones. i will own another soltero one day.
