Dean zelinsky is back

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

I'm hoping for a lefty import Bolero or whatever they're called. I think they're dam sexy!

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

Didn't know Dean left Dean.

His guitars were never my cup of tea though...

Yep, it shortly after NAMM last year. Even if you don't like his stuff, if it's quality stuff that's going to hit the shelves, you have to give him props for putting it all together in less than a year.

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

The other partner is the guy behind Diamond Amplifiers.

Way I understood it as discussed right on the Dean Forum and others is that Ed Roman is backing Dean Z under the covers. The Diamond Amp guy is just another barely known that came in with Dean so as to incorporate 2 companies together for mutual exposure. The guy from Diamond amps knows nothing about guitar manufacture and would not have the contacts necessary to do so

As far as the US made prices... well Dean imports can run over a grand so it's no surprise that the supposedly US made guitars are expensive. Ed Roman has no friends in the US, he has burnt his bridges and it's my understanding that the basic guitars are made in Mexico and assembled in the US (just like the US assembled Ibanez's that say made in US

Until I see proof otherwise, I would not touch one of Zelinsky's DBZ guitars even if I won it for free. The dude's a grease bag and that Bolero is a straight up ripoff of Elliot's Soltero

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

I'm pretty sure that I've read that the Soltero and the Hardtail were both Zelinsky's designs. Hence the reason he's able to pretty much duplicate both of them. Don't know about the Ed Roman end of things. That may or may not be. I could care less as long as the guitars are made well.

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

Interesting...The Barchetta Corsa (3rd on down /floyd) is VERY similar to a guitar that Pat Baker plays on a live video of him playing with his band that is on the Dean website advertising Dean pups. He says the guitar is not a production Dean, but a special one he made himself.. Hmmm...

They look quality. Funny... Guitars made by Dean Z and not a Dime one in the catalog.. Seems odd.. Probably talking to Rita and Vinnie. Next year they will release the "guitar the Dime would have played.."

And folks, this is NOT a disrespect at Dime, only the overkill of Deans having so many Dime models.
I also want to clarify: I am aware that Dean is carrying out the contract and wishes of Dime in building the models he designed from sketches they have and all. I wasnt implying the usual rant that they were milking it or anything. ONLY saying that Dime related guitars are a HUGE part of thier line up.
And given Dean Z's long relationship with Dime, Im suprised He isnt trying to stir up a Dime model for his new co.

w0w, why is he a grease bag?

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

despite the fact that ed roman is slimy as slime gets, he still knows how to make a ****ed comfortable guitar. i think that if these new deanZs are marketed correctly, they'll do well.

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

Those are not a patch on the original Soltero and Hardtails, IMO.

The DBZ headstocks are terrible, but I don't know how anyone can rubbish the Dean headstock when it is nearly a dirrect copy of a PRS which people don't seem to have a problem with.

Until anyone plays one of these, made in USA or not, there is no way to tell how a CGI style will play in the beef.
(It could be the difference between the import and USA deans, quality wise.)

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

These guitars, like most Dean stuff, strike me as the aesthetic equivalent of all the sticky, plastic whores they cast on Celebreality Love shows.

That is, big rubber tits slathered with equal portions of body glitter and Sour Apple Pucker but utterly devoid of any real beauty or class.

LOL......

But have you actually played a Dean USA hardtail in your mittens?

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

I just read on the DBZ forum in post from Dean himself that all the import guitars will be made by Fugijen for the mid to upper level and china for the entry level guitars. It didn't say anything about the USA guitars other than he hand built the 20 that's going to be at NAMM. As for Ed Roman being a "silent" partner in it. I doubt it. That guy isn't silent about anything.

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

I'll defend Dean because I've played their guitars, and find them to be great guitars for the money. The USA made guitars are built as good or better than PRS, the Korean made guitars are Schecter quality but cheaper, and basically alot of bang for the buck.

Dean's advertising I don't care for, but I find them to be excellent guitars on all levels.

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

My Deans breakdown like this:
Korean made: 8, 2000 - 2008 made with a 2009 not counted but deposit made....
USA made: 7, 1-1979, 4-1996, 1-'03, 1-'04....
Czech made: 3, Late '90s made.....

All are well made and have come in great condition when new and real nice condition when found used. No duds among the ones I have bought. There is a differance between the import and USA made stuffbut you would expect there to be. The 1979 Z I got in October is what it is a nice 30 year old guitar and stacks up real nice against it's '79 Hamer Standard cousin I own. I had a guy refuse to even try one of my Deans recently saying "I dont like Deans". I asked which models he played and he said it was an old bolt on guitar and wasn't sure. I was handing him a set neck guitar that was a well set up single cutaway EVO. It woulda melted his Deangrinch heart had he dropped his bitter prejudice. :approve:

:haha: niiice.

Seriously, the Japanese-made Deans I played were most def. NOT worth the money IMO, so was every Dean bellow it.

I have to say that I've still to play a USA-made one but I really don't care to do so unless the opportunity presents itself.
I pretty much expect the DMZ ones to be one of the same.

Just out of curiosity, why did Dean leave and why is he a sl!mebag?

Re: Dean zelinsky is back

Ill tell you, I wish to heck Id have scored a czech made EVO back when they were out.. Man, talk about Jewels..... They were cheap then, they want a bit for them on the uses market.

The Deans I had were great players and the ML was gorgeous. It just seemed odd that it was such a big mahogany guitar but was so light.
