SS Power amp distortion is unpleasant, even in a guitar rig. If using a SS power amp in a guitar rig, you want all your overdrive to come from the preamp and/or pedals. The power amp should have lots of clean headroom. Now, if using a Marshall Dual Monobloc, then that's a different story because you want those tubes cooking.

A poorly made copy of a highly mediocre amp...yeah...that's just what I'd want to play through...

Why not get a used QSC RMX or USA series amp? Hafler Transnovas are great sounding reliable amps, even older PV's that are USA are super reliable workhorses and aren't that expensive. With some hunting you could probably score one for $300 or less and it would kick the crap out of an Alesis, Behringer and the rest of the pro-sumer stuff.

I probably wouldn't use a SS power amp. The old Peavey Classic 50 or 60 power amps are all tube, and cheap. They sound nearly as good as some of the Mesa power amps too. They have nice, high headroom clean, but will probably make a POD Pro sound nice and fat.
