Decided to post some of my own junk

Hi guys. I've enjoyed the stuff you guys have posted for so long, I finally got up enough nerve to let you smash or trash my own music, LOL. As you'll hear (if you listen) I'm more of an old school type of music lover with influences from Led Zeppelin and Hendrix to Rush and Marillion. The first five songs are things I just posted and the rest is stuff from my old band in the 80s and things I recorded on 4 tracks later on. The last five were recorded on Sonar 5.

Let me know what you guys think and feel free to rate them on the acidplanet site. Most of all, I just hope you get enjoyment out of them as that's what I record for.

EDIT: Personally I think the last five I posted (first on the list) "sound" the best as far as the quality of the recording and the mix. The older stuff had some rinky dink drums, terrible mixing, not so good equipment etc...I learned so much from recording and mixing from my brothers here on the forum that I just want to thank everyone so much. Of course the drums are still rinky dink, but they sound better, lol.

I like it...alot!!!
I love oldschool music bigtime.
You are doing the vocals too??

Hey, that's your Plexitone on Heaven at Dawn and Keep on Dreamin. Each song has one more guitar with a different distortion as well, but the Plexi is there.

Yes, unfortunately, LOL. I suck at singing, so listen at your own risk! Actually anything marked in parentheses as "Forever" is only me on guitars and some synths with another vocalist. These were recorded in studios in the 80s and everyone thought he sounded like Geddy Lee from Rush.

Thanks man. Coming from you, I'm smiling from ear to ear!

Re: Decided to post some of my own junk

Anyone else listen to these songs? What would you do differently? I know some of the solos have way too much delay on them and I'm going to change that in the end, but for now did you at least enjoy them? I hope so.

I've gotten some really great emails from people complimenting me on them, but damn--unless someone rips them apart I can't improve them, lol. Don't worry about insulting me because I know you just want to help. That's how I take it. I'd like to get some feedback. If it's not your kind of music, that's one thing but if it is, then whaddya think. Thanks bros.:smokin:

Re: Decided to post some of my own junk

Great stuff! Very reminiscent of 70s hard rock like Zeppelin. Great playing and tone on all the tracks!

Re: Decided to post some of my own junk

Dude, the songs rock. One thing I would like the see is better recording. Other than that, I can't really comment on the playing because I think it fits the music fine. :headbang:

I had to laugh at Bellami. Not because it was bad but because it was sooo '80s. I thought it was great too. :laugh2:

Dude, I laugh at Bellami every day :laugh2: . That band was always intented to be metal or progressive, but every manager, agent or whoever was always trying to get us to be that quinsential 80s pop band. Don't ever let anyone try to make you something you're not, otherwise you'll get your own "Bellami", lol.

And thanks a million for the compliments. You guys made an old fart feel good today.

Re: Decided to post some of my own junk

I´m listening to "We´re gonna groove"..I like everything about it..from the vocals to the guitar. I´m checking the other songs as well..they´ll rock too..thanks for sharing.

Classic rock :headbang:

Bellami sounds like a produced song in the 80´s...it´s a 25$ keyboard? LOL! Great :D

Dude, I dig this one. As soon as the band kicked in, I started singing "don't you...forget about me..." :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: I was around for the 80's, & this style was a large part of what I listened to.

...And the solo kills.

LOL, thanks a million. When we did this tune, our keyboard player had left the band so I started playing keys and we got another guitarist. This is the first song I wrote on synths alone. When it came time to do the solo though, he couldn't match the style and they were pretty bad. I felt bad because they were the first solos he ever attempted in a studio, and the band called me in from the TV room to do the solos. I objected but even he said he couldn't do it. I love the way they came out. We recorded that in a studio in June of 1987.

All the guitars were done on that with a 65 Fender Deluxe and a Rat distortion. He was using a Charvel model 5 for the chords and I had my 75 Les Paul Custom for the solos. The weird thing is that this song was done on the original 8 track in the studio, then when they upgraded to 24 track the recordings sounded worse! The song "You" is on the 24 track. I'm not doing the solo on that, just the keys and chords. The recording is horrible, plus the drummer was on speed or something. Way too fast.

I am pretty impressed - good stuff! Very Professional - and my style of music - keep the torch burning!

I'm really digging the tone, really full, fat, nice rounded tone : )

Gotta say, any improvement in tone that you can hear from my 80s stuff to now is due to this forum, both in equipment advice and recording tips--and those Seymour Duncan pickups! :laugh2:
