Re: decided to relic

It's pretty hard to do but I also think that when you tell people you relic'd it, much easier to look for stuff. If you like it, slap a neck and some strings on it and play it

Re: decided to relic

Ahhh I really couldn't get used to it so I sanded it all down and gonna start over. Maybe even with a different color

Re: decided to relic

That's what I decided as well so it's all be sanded back to wood and shall be repainted again.

Re: decided to relic

That looks like nice wood peeking through there.

Re: decided to relic

In an attempt to use up some leftover parts, I ordered an S style body made of walnut. A combination of factors led me to finish it in wax-oil. Applied by hand, using a cloth. Took ten minutes.

It's certainly a nice piece of alder. So much so it's tempting to leave it natural because it takes on an almost honey color when sanding sealer is applied. Tru oil would be my choice as a finish and it would only make it more honey in color

Re: decided to relic

Are there any photographs of the opaque white finish before you set about the relic job?
