Decided to Remove a Horrible Finish on a Jaguar Today and got a pleasant surprise...

Re: Decided to Remove a Horrible Finish on a Jaguar Today and got a pleasant surprise

Ha! If it melts gloves, it can't be good for your skin. Be careful next time...chemical burns ain't fun!

Acetone won't give you chemical burns, but it'll dry out your skin like nothing else.

No offense taken. At least none by me.

In fact, I agree with you 100%. The soldiers on the ground are there doing a job, and an honourable one, at that. To judge them through the actions of the politicians in charge is grossly unfair and generally inaccurate. Soldiers' beliefs run the gamut, just like the general population. What makes them professional is that they set those political views aside when it comes time to uphold their oath and go to work. It is a gargantuan act of courage to be willing to die for someone else's beliefs.

I only used the Nazi term as a time-frame reference for those who don't know the history, as it had been used earlier in the thread. The Germans not being the good guys comment was meant to be light-hearted, and I'm sorry if the comment touched a nerve. That wasn't the intent. Again, the soldiers fighting the war are not the ones who set the policy, or even the tactics.

Now, as for my thoughts that Darth Vader is a phallic symbol...that was in all fake seriousness. Did George Lucas do that on purpose? I mean really...a big black penis walking around through the whole movie and no one seems to notice! LOL

no offense taken but alot still have the belief that the american/british army can do no wrong and never did any bad.. from what ive read over the years this is far from the case..just not talked about in the media

and lord helmet was pretty much a pr*ck so i think the look suited him

Not great for the eyes, either. Make sure you wear safety glasses.

Phallic helmet-here's what I think of that:

And when I see Brandenburg I think of this:

Course I grew up in Germany so I was more worried about the DDR than the Nazis...

And please post up more pics of the guitar, it looks awesome now.

Yeeeah, I can't let this go.

Brandenburg: Bulls__t. If the unit carries out orders that follow the directives of the government, then they bear as much responsibility for their actions as the men who gave the orders. If, as a unit, they had refused to carry out orders that Goering or other high brass in the Third Reich had carried out, then your argument would have some weight. Until then, no dice.

Just my 2 cents. End threadjack. Any further communication on this point is welcome via PM, but let's not cloud up the thread, eh? Back to admiring the sweet Jaguar.

Awesome save, and find on that guitar. Now it looks like just about every Jag/JM from the late 70's, baby-poo brown...

Bwahahahahaha!!!

I had "some pieces" of an old Mustang that I literally gave away forever ago.
:headslap:

It was given to me in pieces, too, tho, just kinda got tired of hauling it around.
Parts were difficult at best to find then,& expensive if/when you could.

Go figure,huh?
:)

Damn shame 'bout teh Jag,tho...

Yeah it definitely gave me some ridiculously dry skin on my fingers, haha. I'll probably look into gloves that won't melt next time for that reason alone. Immediately after wards my fingers tips felt like an old pair of bowling shoes or something.

And please post up more pics of the guitar, it looks awesome now.

Will do, gonna take some more in a bit actually.

Re: Decided to Remove a Horrible Finish on a Jaguar Today and got a pleasant surprise

So... are you still looking to trade it for something? The more I look at it, the more GAS I feel...
