Deciding between two pickups...

I already have in mind I want the jazz pickup for the neck position... but, and i know they're both different in their own rights... but heres the deal...

the pickups i'm choosing between, and i've narrowed it down to this point... are the Duncan SH-5 custom.. and the SH-6 distortion for the bridge position.

The guitar is made of basswood, maple neck, rosewood fretboard. has as Tune-O-matic bridge and its a bolt on neck guitar. (esp/ltd
Gus G-200)

With this guitar, i'm going for a good melodic death metal sound(think Mors Principium Est/Children of Bodom) And obviously, with the guitar of choice you can guess(if you know who Gus G. is. lol) i'm going for a good power metal tone too(like firewind)

I've not had experience with either of the pickups in basswood. Would anyone like to help me out here? any other suggestions welcome, but i'm mainly looking into the custom and the distorion.

thanks in advance. :cool2:

Re: Deciding between two pickups...

Anyone? Maybe i'm asking too much... just wondering... sh-5 or sh-6 for metal in a basswood guitar?

Nevermind, people.... Got the answer I was looking for . :D

Edit: I meant Custom... lol

indeed, the custom. the distortion has just too much highs and uppermids, whilst the custom has more mids and lower mids and bass, something you really need in a basswood guitar. imho.
