decision time, help me...Lew Curly, Gearjonser, anybody

A pole for this would take WAY too long s just help me out...I have decided on my next guitar and I have a few options...some costing more that others but either way I need help

pups...
-Set of three callabrated, or set of 2 with a hotter bridge pup?
-APS or Antiquity I's...the "hotter" bridge pup would be (in order) a Twangbanger or the Custom Bridge

If I go with the APS...should I get flats because I will have a 12 inch radius or should I get the staggered because the Twangbanger is staggered, or am I being crazy!

Bridge
-Gotoh 6 hole vintage trem
-Callaham 6 hole trem

Body
-Alder
-Ash

I am open to any other pickup ideas...as long as they say DUNCAN on them!

Or should I just give up, buy a Fender Jimmie Vaughan Strat...change the pups, throw in some locking keys and call it a day for about a $500.00 savings...no it would not be the perfect strat but it is a little cheaper

my picks:

alder body

Callaham bridge

either set - APSs/ TB or Ants/ Custom (I'm sure you'd be happy either way)

if you pick the APSs, I'd go flat with a 12" radius, but I have Ants on a Warmoth 10/ 16" neck, and I don't find any problem with that

if you go with a vintage trem, then I like the vintage style Gotoh Kluson tuners, too

Re: decision time, help me...Lew Curly, Gearjonser, anybody

I can only tell you what I'd order, if I was going after a 'perfect strat.'

Alder body.

Birdseye maple neck with rosewood fretboard.

Great color with Fender Custom Shop pickguard that compliments the finish.

Antiquity II Custom 9.7K Strat bridge, Antiquity II Surfer neck and middle. All A-5

Compound radius neck that is a chunky C shape.

Vintage Kluson type tuners.

Callaham high mass bridge.

Fender Am Std frets.

Volume all three, Tone bridge only, 2nd Tone Blender pot. No tone control on N & M

If you make that strat, you'll have my dream strat. I love my Fenders, but if I put a strat together, it'd be that combination.

Re: decision time, help me...Lew Curly, Gearjonser, anybody

thanks guys...I really think I might try that blender pot...I never use a neck or middle tone control on a strat...but on the bridge it is a must!

Re: decision time, help me...Lew Curly, Gearjonser, anybody

My tastes change but my current picks would be:

1. alder body

2. maple neck (one piece) with medium jumbo frets, bone nut and Kluson style heads

3. Antiquity Surfer neck and middle pickups
or: Duncan SSL-1's if you're on a budget

4. Antiquity Texas Hot Custom bridge pickup (sorry Gearjonser, but I like it in mine :) )
or: Lindy Fralin Steel Pole 43 if you want a slightly hotter more P90 like tone

5. Fender '62 RI tremolo

6. master volume, master tone, .02 Sprague Orange Drop capacitor and Fralin Blender Pot

Re: decision time, help me...Lew Curly, Gearjonser, anybody

Well here is what I think is going on with this one...

-alder body
-one piece maple neck with fat frets and a 12 inch radius
-Either antiquity Texas Hot w/custom bridge OR APS-2's w/ Twangbanger bridge
-Locking Kluson tuners, bone nut, Callaham Bridge
-Master volume, tone on the bridge, blend control
-Nitro finish

That is it ...unless I change my mind...AGAIN!

Re: decision time, help me...Lew Curly, Gearjonser, anybody

Nah...go for it. You'll love it either way. The APS-2/Twangbanger set up is cool too.

I have that in one Strat and the Antiquty Surfers in two.
