Decisions...Help Wanted

Empty Pockets

Let's say you got one of these in basically mint condition with the gigbag just cuz it was a stupid good deal:

If you could, would you trade it for one of these?:

Even if it's totally beat up? Still playable but with the belt-scratches and finish chips you'd probably put on it yourself, being a heavy metal punk rock-n-roll loser like you are. It would have the original case with it...

Keep in mind that your other two guitars are these:

I will not post a poll because I think convincing opinions by knowledgeable players are more important than sheer numbers on the internet :smokin:

Thanks for any input bros.

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

dont trade it for the sg - they are so cliche and unhip these dayz. u needz teh fender to be deck ;)

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

I don't know if I count as a player who's experience matters, but here goes my take on it :

I would trade for a single reason : I think that an all mahogany neck through guitar like the SG would be better suited as your main H-H guitar. Not that there is anything wrong with the other guitar, but the SG is just a mean axe.

The hardshell case is a nice touch to it. I've always had mixed feeling about those H-H Jags. I feel the SG is not a variation of itself, where the jaguar is an adapted version of a classic.

I also recall your view on your current SG, which seems to be your soulmate. If that is the case, another SG with a different pickup combination could be a good guitar to add to the collection.

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

Read Phils post again! It looks like advice YOU would give!

Don't get me wrong, the jag is nice....But after reading all your posts around here for a short while I agree with every word .....he's got you pegged man!

Sorry, but I would have traded before you finished the sentence! Just sayin'.

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

I love SG's...but I'd keep the Fender...UNLESS you just don't like it for some reason. Then trade. Value-wise...they're about the same. The SG is going to be me almost instantly re-saleable, while the Jag you may sit on a while. Everyone has SG"s...we don't all have Jaguars.

:)

Gladz I could helpz u

I wish they made Jaguar bassez in that black configuration - all black and crome with no wood exposed, only black paint

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

^^ They DO make the Baritone like that...with some Bass VI strings you could easily tune it down to bass E-standard...:smokin:

Anyway I think i'm gonna do it. I'm bringin the jag to my shop tomorrow and comparing them to eachother when i get down time...then if the numbers work and i know myself like i think i do i might be a two SG guy...

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

Define "totally beat up"...

If the SG has no structural issues, then trading for it is a no brainer. .

Don't make me come down there young man.

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

^^ somethin like a black SG right? :smokin:

There are other things i want but i don't need them like i need a good guitar with two humbuckers...and the Jaguar is awesome but has this "Fender trying to be an SG" thing going on...

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

My first good electric guitar was a 1963 Jaguar. It was stolen. That said years later when i was more skilled I realized I probably would have gottn rid of it anyway. I don't like the short scale & really prefer Teles & Strats over those. I replace my stolen Jag with a 1968 SG Standard which I still have, so I think I would go for the SG!

Re: Decisions...Help Wanted

Since you work in a music store, and can play SG Stds, I'd suggest sitting there with both guitars in your hand, and made the decision that way.

Then, if the American SG beats the Mexi Fender, by all means go get it.

Luckily, it's black, and it's an easy color to touch up with paint, if there's a few nicks that bother you.
