Decisions

Ok guys, I am building my first partscaster. I've decided on an EMG SAV set with the EXG control pot. I'm gong with Sperzel tuners and a Callaham bridge. When it comes to Warmoth compound radius necks will the narrow string spacing work better with the Callaham tremolo? I know someone mentioned it before in another thread. What about spacing for the EMGs matches no the Callaham? I got the six screw vintage routing on the body...hope everything matches up....any advice? Also, are Warmoth pickguards shielded and should I shield the cavity in the body even though Iwill have active EMGs?

Thanks for all your input...you guys have been very helpful...

Re: Decisions

Forget shielding imho. EMGs are usually rails inside (the singles too iirc?) So string spacing doesnt matter for em.

Wide vintage space tremolos got pretty good playability, but can be annoying if you tend to fret out off the side of the fretboard, so ymmv. For screw holes look up the callaham site, theyll give you measurements

Re: Decisions

Narrow string spacing means you have a bridge with 2 1/16" (52.5mm) string spacing. This is the default modern spacing for Fender strats, so its a good choice for most people. You have to choose the Callaham bridge with either narrow or vintage string spacing, and the mounting screw spacing on the body will be the same in both cases for USA strats.

My suggestion is that if you buy a Warmoth neck with a 1 11/16" (43mm) nut width, a Tremolo bridge with narrow spaced is highly recommended to avoid the strings falling off the edge of the fingerboard.
