Defective Catalinbread SFT ? volume cut out

Ok so I got a new Catalinbread SFT but when I kick on the switch the volume cuts out completely and I have to strum a chord or two to get the sound to come on with the dirt from the pedal... no problems when turning it off though. Is this a design thing or do I have a defective pedal ? it sounds great otherwise

Sounds like a short in the jack....

Re: Defective Catalinbread SFT ? volume cut out

Have you tried it with different cables? Sounds like a shorted instrument lead.

Hey there...

Our email server is down right now, but if you'd send me an email at the address in my sig I'll try to get to you this weekend when it comes back up.

First thing to check is your cables - both instrument cables and power supply cabling if you're not using a battery. Isolate the pedal completely from your signal chain (just guitar -> SFT -> amp - nothing else hooked up) and let me know what happens. If it's not the cables, then it may be the footswitch and we'll take care of you on that one if that's the case.

Lemme know how it goes!

Mike

edit: Our email is back up - I saw you sent a msg late last night and I just replied. Let's take this over there as it's hard for me to manage tech issues on a forum.

yeah it is an amazing sounding pedal that's for sure.. It completely changed my sound and gave me that stoner rock base tone I have been looking for

It also works great with low gain, and it has tons of clean boost. I'm not much of a pedal stacker but a TS set with pretty low gain into that SFT with some fat clean boost and the gain halfway is a great solo tone.

Agreed, the SFT stacks VERY well... actually its the best stacking pedal I have used

The clean boost is super loud. The only problem I have with it is that I really like the tone I get with the volume knob up halfway, but it's just incredibly loud. Unity on the volume knob is less than 9 o'clock on mine. But if you can turn that up it gets FAT!

yeah I noticed that too, right now i'm using it with the gain low and the volume at about noon and its a pretty beefy slightly breaking up base tone to stack my other pedals into... it's like turning any amp I'm using into an Ampeg VT-40 or V4... its an amazing pedal and very unique. I hope the retailer where I bought it from can replace it with no issues

Did you get in touch with the retailer today? Are they going to take care of you?

yepp I talked to Catalinbread and they said they would take care of it if the retailer could not which is great but Moog is going to accept a return for a new one and pay for the shipping charges which is also a relief..

Just hoping I get another new graphic model because the new graphic ones look awesome compared to the older graphic versions... either way an amazing pedal and I can't wait to get one back on my board

Re: Defective Catalinbread SFT ? volume cut out

That's funny I have the new one with black knobs but I kind of dig the old graphic myself. You mean the one with the white knobs? Well I'm glad to hear this worked out. Rock on!
