Deja Vibe vs Mojo Vibe

I found this rather interesting.

I have a Deja Vibe and I borrowed a Mojo Vibe from a buddy (Thanks KEEF!).

Right off the bat I was struck by how small the Mojo Vibe is...very pedal board friendly and the expression jack is a nice touch.

I plugged them and set the controls the same...volume all the way up, intensity at about 3 oclock and speed just over half...both units in vintage mode.

I started switching between the 2 and was amazed!

The Mojo was WAY more intense and a LOT faster in these settings, not to mention a little louder.

I could go on and on about the differences but in a nut shell I can make the Mojo and the Deja sound **** near the same but the Mojo will get more intense in every way. Throb, volume and speed.

With the Deja's intensity full up I set the Mojo about 7 and the intensity was the same. With the Deja's volume full up I had the Mojo's volume set to around 6 and the speed controls act VERY differently...the tapers are different but the Deja will actually get little slower and the Mojo will get a little faster but most of the speeds can be had on both but the knobs are in different places.

The only other thing I noticed was that at some settings the Mojo seems to be a little darker than the Deja but the Deja sounds a little tiny bit scooped in the mids at some settings...truth is in ablind test I'd bet most guys might not even notice and Im all but positive most guys wouldn't care but there is a very slight diffrence in the overall EQ of the 2.

FWIW, the Mojo sounds killer and I always wished that the intensity control on the Deja went to 11, maybe 12 but the Mojo seems to get a little washed out with the intensity much past 8 so it's kind of a wash...no pun intended!

Re: Deja Vibe vs Mojo Vibe

I haven't tried a Mojo, but everyone loves them, don't they?

I did expect more intensity out of the Deja Vibe.

Re: Deja Vibe vs Mojo Vibe

I never was a fan of the Deja. Call me blasphemous but I like the Dunlop better! Of course I like Dave Fox's the best.

Yeah, the Mojo gets a LOT of love.

It is a great unit but to me no better or worse than the Deja. That is unless you want, and can actually use the extra range on the controls...to me with the Mojo cranked up past where the Deja stops it's really hard to use...washed out sounding and the guitar starts to almost disappear at times...

Hmm...I dug the Dunlop when I tried one years ago but found it to be pretty noisey.

Im actually on the list for an Aquavibe but am really thinking hard about just getting a CC2 and calling it a day...

You know, I love the effect the Dunlop gets, but the amount of noise it adds makes it completely not worth it to me. Add to that the fact that twice—not once but TWICE—the thing broke on me and I had to have it fixed.

Since then, the Mojo Vibe has been the one for me.

Hey Christian, cool to know the two units (Deja and Mojo) are so close to each other.

It's funny...I have them set up rigt now in a Loop Master unit that lets me select one or the other via one stomp and I have the LED's turned off so I don't know which one Im using until I flip on the lights...the controls are set COMPLETELY different but the sound is nearly the same...

Well, they're nearly the same price, so I suppose the difference comes down to workmanship (probably equivalent) and customer service (we know the difference there).

Re: Deja Vibe vs Mojo Vibe

Tried it through a Marshall like amp, basicly your JTM 50.
Dead on old JB tone in that one, anyways with an ancient slanted 4x12 with 25 watts Greenies and basket wave frontcloth....and a 25 piece limited run Germanium fuzz with a nifty load knob......
Doh.....I was swirled and bathed in talking and wishpering overtones...a cascade of light made by sound....awesome:D
